Free and Reduced Rate Travel on Trains and Trams in Greater Manchester
Free travel for over 60s
If you are 60 or over, with your GMPTE National Travel Pass you can travel free on trains and trams in Greater Manchester any time after 09.30 a.m. Monday to Friday, or anytime on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Before 09.30 on Mondays to Fridays you can travel for half the normal fare.
Cheap travel for under 60s
For those under 60, the Greater Manchester Rail Ranger allows unlimited travel for one day on the Greater Manchester rail network (and on trams in the city centre) after 09.30 a.m. Monday to Friday, or anytime on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. It costs £3.80; if you are starting after 18.30 p.m., buy the Evening Ranger for only £1.90.
